The Council of Bono and Ahafo Associations of North America (COBAANA)—an umbrella organization of diaspora Ghanaians from the former Brong-Ahafo Region residing in the U.S. and Canada—is spearheading the development of a US $2,500,000 Dialysis Center in Sunyani.

Announced in June 2023, this initiative marks a significant milestone toward enhancing healthcare access in the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo regions.

 

Mission & Strategic Importance

COBAANA’s mission is clear: to ensure easy and equitable access to essential Dialysis Services, reducing the physical, emotional, and financial hardship patients currently endure traveling to Kumasi or Accra for treatment. This endeavor is driven by diaspora members’ commitment to bolstering healthcare delivery back home, truly reflecting the theme of our Annual Convention: “THE HEALTH OF OUR PEOPLE IS OUR CONCERN.”

 

Why It Matters…

• Bridging Healthcare Gaps: Dialysis is a lifesaving treatment for end-stage kidney disease. Establishing a local center will dramatically improve timely access to care in a region historically underserved.
