NEWARK
1. How the Association was formed and when?
The Brong Ahafo Association of NJ (BAAONJ), Newark was founded in 2003 to cater for the residents of NJ of Ahafo, Bono, and Bono East (formerly Brong Ahafo Region) decent and others who have the regions at heart. Prior to the BAAOJ, residents travelled to New York (NY) to meet with other citizens of these regions. It took too many hours to drive to and from the meetings in NY.
2. The founding fathers & history
As a result of the time it took to travel for meetings in NY, some of those who travelled to NY from NJ, decided to form their Association. Some of the original founders are Mr. Kwame Osei Fosu, Dickson Damoa, the late Mr. Edward K. Ansong, and the late Dr. Kwame Sintim Damoa.
The original one lapsed and the current one was started in 2016. Some the executives behind the current one are Miss Juliet Amponsah, Dr. Nsiah Acheampong, Mr. Paul Manu, Mrs. Martha Kumi Acheampong, Mrs. Ama Sintim Damoa, Mr. Gilbert Agyemang Badu, and the late Dr. Kwame Sintim Damoa.
3. Future Plans:
Executives and members are growing BBAONJ by word of mouth, sending flyers to Ghanaian communities encouraging spouses and friends to join BAA.
We are going to select a hospital we can start to help in Ghana by sending medical equipment to the selected hospital.
