History

The idea of the formation of Brong Ahafo  Association of Columbus (BAAC) was initiated in August 2000 by Mr. Afred Nyarko together with some few citizens from Brong Ahafo. Mr. Nyarko became the 1st President. 

Unfortunately, between 2003 and 2005, the progress of the association dwindled. 

Towards the end of 2005, an appeal was launched to reach out to all Brong Ahafo citizens in Columbus to listen to a goodwill message where a Ghanaian immigration attorney, Lilian Asante was invited to give a talk on immigration issues.

About 75 people attended.  An appealed was made to help restrengthen the association. The appeal was well received  and new Executive members were immediately nominated and elected, beginning of democratic elections in The BAAC. Nana Osei Kwabena was elected the President. 

The new Executives saw the need to inaugurate the association as soon as possible since that could energize the membership. 

Consequently, in 2008, the association was inaugurated and the new Executives sworn in.

NB: it was during the inauguration of Columbus chapter that formally gave birth to the formation of COBAANA.

Achievements: 

1 BAAC in collaboration with COBAANA shipped 40 feet container of hospital consumables to the BA Regional hospital in 2014

2. BAAC was able to send about 1,000 blankets to the various government hospitals, polyclinics and clinics in the Region in 2018. 

3. BAAC also sent crochets and.. to Duayaw Nkwanta and Wench hospitals in 2018. 

4. The association has been able to promote peace and unity among members and also with other associations in Columbus.
