HISTORY OF BRONG AHAFO ASSOCIATION OF NEW JERSEY
The idea of forming Brong Ahafo Association in New Jersey (Trenton Chapter) came about after some individuals from New Jersey were invited to the Council of Brong Ahafo Association of North America (OBAANA) convention in Maryland in 2013. Sister Anita Yeboah, Mr. and Mrs. Koomson, and Sister Eva who attended the convention were very excited about the love, unity, joy, and the enthusiastic spirit portrayed by the members of COBAANA at the convention. In his speech, the chairman of COBAANA Mr. Alex Ankomah highlighted the achievements of the association. He mentioned the recent donation the council has made to the Sunyani regional hospital and the plans to provide scholarship for the needy but brilliant and gifted students in the region. He concluded by edging all delegates and individuals present to help keep the dream alive. This call cemented the idea of establishing such association in New Jersey to empower and unite the citizens of Brong Ahafo region and the allies in New Jersey.
Upon return to New Jersey, Sister Anita contacted Sister Mary Damoah who had been a member of Columbus branch of the association to gain more insight about the formation of such association. Sister Mary enthusiastically provided much needed information and further introduced Anita to Nana Odeneho Osei Kwabena (Charles Osei Kwabena) who was then the chairman of the Columbus chapter of the association. With the support and encouragement from Nana Odeneho the association was formed in 2014.
The purpose of the association is to provide both group and individual support to members of the association and to help the development of Brong- Ahafo region in particular and Ghana as a whole based on the financial standing of the association. The main objectives are:
